How do I play?

Progressive Gin is Progressive Rummy over seven rounds. Each round has a goal (a "contract") that grows — from two groups of three up to three runs of four. On your turn you draw one card and discard one. Collect the round's goal, tap Go Down to lay it on the table, then shed your remaining cards onto melds. You go out by playing your last card onto a meld — never by discarding it — so hold the cards that fit and throw away the ones that don't. The first player with no cards left ends the round; everyone else scores their leftovers. Lowest total after seven rounds wins. Tap the goal chip (with the ?) at the top of the screen any time for a full rules card.

What is a group? What is a run?

A group is three or more cards of the same rank, any suits (three Kings). A run is four or more cards in a row of the same suit (4-5-6-7 of hearts). When you go down you can make them longer than the minimum, too.

How does buying work?

When it is not your turn and the player up next is about to draw from the deck, you can buy the face-up discard. It comes with two hidden cards from the deck — a gamble. You get two buys per round, and your hand grows from 11 to 14 to 17 cards. On your own turn you don't buy; you just draw the card.

Can I lay cards down after I've gone down?

Yes. Once you're down — including on the same turn — you can lay off cards onto any meld already on the table, yours or an opponent's. Tap a card, then tap the meld that glows.

What are Jokers worth?

Jokers are wild and stand in for any card inside a meld. You can never discard one, and a lone Joker can't be the card that takes you out — it has to leave with company, inside a meld. If one is caught in your hand at the end of a round it's worth 25 points, so use it.

Does the game work offline? Does it use my data?

It's fully offline — no internet needed, ever. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, no accounts, and no tracking. The app collects no data about you.

The animations aren't playing

If cards snap into place without sliding, check Settings › Accessibility › Motion › Reduce Motion on your device. Progressive Gin respects that setting and keeps motion to a minimum when it's on. Low Power Mode can also reduce animation.

Is it accessible?

Yes — every card and control is labelled for VoiceOver, the game supports Dynamic Type and high contrast, and suits are shown by symbol so they never rely on colour alone.
