Mise is built to collect as little as possible. By default, your recipes are extracted and stored on your device, and synced only through your own iCloud account. There are no Mise accounts and no login.
Mise Pro adds an optional cloud import feature for links and media that on-device extraction can't handle on its own — for example TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Cloud import is off until you turn it on. When you use it, only the specific link or media you choose to import is sent to Mise's backend and to Google's Gemini API to extract the recipe. That content is processed only to return a recipe to you and is not stored: the backend keeps no user data, and any uploaded media is deleted after extraction. Imported recipes link back to their original source. If you never enable cloud import, nothing about your recipes ever leaves your device except through your own iCloud.
Mise Pro is an auto-renewing subscription handled entirely by Apple. Mise receives only an Apple-signed receipt confirming that your subscription is active — we never see your payment details, and there is no separate Mise account tied to your purchase.
Mise's network requests are: fetching the recipe page or image you explicitly choose to import; optional public metadata lookups; Apple services (iCloud sync and the App Store); and, only if you enable cloud import, sending the item you're importing to Mise Cloud and Gemini as described above. Mise does not crawl the web or bypass paywalls.
You can export your entire library to a portable JSON file at any time, and you can erase all Mise data from your device (and your iCloud) from Settings.
